The Amateur Swimming Association
The Amateur Swimming Association
(“the A.S.A.”).is the governing body for swimming in England. They are
responsible for promoting the teaching and practice of swimming, raising public
awareness of the sport and for creating, publishing and enforcing the laws of
the Sport. Enclosed is a leaflet entitled ‘Welcome to the A.S.A.’
There is a requirement made by
the A.S.A that all swimmers who compete in National, District, County and Open
meet competitions or swim for the Club in league competitions must be registered
with the A.S.A.
KRSC is committed to a
competitive swimming programme and therefore, as a new member of the Club, you
will need to complete the blue registration form. Your parent also has to sign
this form if you are under 18 years of age. The form is then sent to the
A.S.A. via the Membership Secretary.
If you suffer from asthma and
are taking medication a further form needs to be completed. The purpose of this
form is to let the A.S.A. know what medication you are taking in the course of
your treatment. They need to know this as part of the doping control measures
introduced by them. Further information of the doping control procedures are
available and can be provided by the Membership Secretary on request. When
the A.S.A have processed your application they will issue you with a
registration card but this usually takes them some months, so do be patient. You
need to sign this and keep it somewhere safe as you may be required to produce
this card when you are taking part in an event.
The registration year runs from
1 April to 31 March. The registration fee is shown on the schedule of fees in
this section and, if appropriate, is charged on the membership invoice.
Registration will need to be renewed each year. The fee for the forthcoming
year’s registration will be collected in January when you pay your annual
membership subscription. The KRSC Membership Secretary will deal with the
renewal procedure.
If you have any queries about
registration please contact the Membership Secretary.
Child Protection Act
The ASA have strict policies
concerning Child Protection and this involves registration of poolside staff and
volunteers and is a mandatory agenda item at Executive Committee meetings.
The Membership Secretary is the officer within the Club responsible for any
matters in this regard.
Video & Zoom Cameras
By ASA Law the Club must record
the name and address of any person wishing to use video equipment or zoom
photography at a gala or training session. Please report to the Desk and
provide your name and address BEFORE using any such equipment.
