Junior Squad
The Junior Squad
is the third and penultimate stage of the Competitive Swimming program in
K.R.S.C. Entry
into the Junior Squad is generally via the Development Squad of the club where it is hoped that swimmers will have developed a good understanding of
competitive training and competition as well as the technical and physiological
competence to move onto a more intensive level of training.
To progress from the Development Squad into the Junior Squad the following
times will be used for consideration when reviewing squad progression - 2 Silver
Times and 2 Gold Times of which one Gold Time must be gained on Freestyle -

consideration times.
Any movement of swimmers will also be at the Squad Coach's discretion.
Although
the emphasis in the Junior Squad is strongly based upon Education and Technique
of skills, there is in addition an increase of intensity in the workload and an
increase of expectation in training performance.
Swimmers
in this Squad will be expected to enter all competitive outlets that are offered
to them in order to gain the appropriate experience and to have the opportunity
to test their level of improvement. This will involve Club and Inter-Club
competitions as well as Open Meets, County (Surrey) and Regional (London
Swimming) Championships.
Please take on the responsibility to keep a track of dates of competitions,
entry qualification times for different events and also closing dates.
This will make all of our lives a lot easier and also ensure that you get to
compete at the level that you deserve to be.
In
the same vein it is also imperative that you keep records of all your Personal
Best times, not only must you know them for competitive entries but you need to
know what you are aiming to beat in training so that you can set yourself some
realistic goals.

There are two levels of commitment - Silver and Gold with a
global quarterly fee of £85 or £95 respectively. Silver entitles you to
swim four of the five sessions plus the land training whilst Gold
entitles you to swim all five sessions, land training and one morning session at
the Kingfisher (from 6.00am to 8.00am). On progressing to the Junior Squad
it is anticipated that you will commit to Silver for the first quarter at least
but should you wish to take Gold, do please discuss this with Katy Rydquist and confirm your decision at the Desk.
For a progression from the Junior Squad into the Senior Squad, decisions will
be based on personal best times achieved in a spread of events, and commitment to
training and competition will also be considered. Any movement of swimmers will
be at the Squad Coaches' discretion and we must believe that the swimmer is
ready to cope with yet another increase in workload.
As well as hat, goggles, swimwear, drinks bottle, float and pullbuoy,
swimmers will need to have a pair of Zoomers for their sessions - these are
available from the club shop. The Desk
on Friday Club night will be able to help you with your requirements.
Should you have any questions or require further information about any
matters relating to either the Junior Squad or K.R.S.C. in general then please
do not hesitate to contact any of the Club Coaches.
