British Long Course Championships –

The Olympic Trials 2008

31st March - 6th April

Alfie Howes, Alys Thomas and James Young competed against the best in Great Britain. They were amongst the first in the championships to trial the new Laser fast skins from Speedo – Alys said that everything felt smoother – you could feel it carry you that bit further and faster - the suits are specially fitted with internal core stability that maintains the perfect body shape in the water, (it makes you feel like you are in a pair of tight shorts!) and they are specially coated in Teflon to minimise drag (they feel like rubber!) All 3 of them achieved PBs; and Alfie and Alys made 'B' finals. Alfie took 21 secs off his 1500 free (finishing 13th overall in the country) and 7 secs off his 400 Free; Alys finished 13th in the country in the 200 Fly, 20th in the 100 Fly and 25th  in the 200 Free; and James finished  in the following places in his age group:1st in the 200 Free, 4th in the 100 Free and 400 Free, 6th in 50 Free and 1500 Free.
