WELSH AGE GROUP AND
YOUTH NATIONAL
CHAMPIONSHIPS 2007

A
group of 4 swimmers qualified to compete in the Welsh Nationals held in
Swansea over the
Easter weekend this year – Thomas Godfrey, Daniel Allpress, James
O’Hanlon and Alys Thomas .

Alys, 16, completed the weekend with 5 golds – 1500m Free, 800m Free, 200m
Free, 200m Fly, 100m Fly, breaking the championship record for her age
group in all of these events except the 800m Free, silver in the 100m
Free in which she also broke the championship record and a bronze in the
50m Free; James, 12, came home with 5 silvers – 400m Free, 100m Fly, 100m
Free, 200m Back, 200m Free, and 2 bronzes – 200m Individual Medley (IM),
400m IM and gained a long course National Qualifying time for the 100m
Back; Thomas, 14, brought home 1 bronze – 1500m Free and competed in several
finals; and Daniel, 11, was competing in the 12 and under age group, but
in spite of this managed several finals and finished 4th in
200 IM and 400 IM, and 5th in 100 Breast; with most of his
National Qualifying times now very much improved and converted to long
course times.
