The Surrey County ASA offer two competitions for Surrey swimmers each year as follows:-
1. The Surrey County Age Group Championships are generally held in January/February in each year where swimmers from Surrey County affiliated swimming clubs are invited to compete in individual events if they meet the designated qualifying times. Swimmers are expected to enter all individual events for which they qualify.
2. The Surrey Relay Championships generally held in September where swimmers are selected by coaches to represent the club in relay events from Surrey County affiliated swimming clubs. If swimmers are selected for relay events, they are expected to make themselves available to do so.
The Surrey County Championships are open to qualifying swimmers aged 11 and over (with 10 year olds being able to compete provided they meet the 11 year old qualifying times). The age of swimmers is calculated as at 31st December in the year of competition.
For example, bearing in mind the Surrey Championships take place in January/February each year, if a child is aged 12 in February when the Surreys take place but has a birthday in April, they will swim as a 13 year old at the Surreys as that is the age they will be on 31st December 2025 (regardless of the fact that at the time they compete in the Surreys they are actually aged 12).
For the first time, Surrey have introduced Consideration Times in addition to the Qualifying Times for 2025.
The Consideration Times are set at 5% below the Qualifying Times.
NOTE: If you achieve a Qualifying Time in an event, you are guaranteed a place in that event in the Championships.
If you achieve a Consideration Time in an event, you are NOT guaranteed a place in that event in the
Championships.
Please also take the following points into consideration before deciding whether your swimmer has a Qualifying Time or Consideration Time.
1. All submitted entry times must be recorded on British Rankings for the course swum.
2 No conversions are permitted for entry.
3. Only times that are achieved at a licensed meet swum on or after 5 February 2024 are eligible for entry into the Surrey County Age Group Championsnhips 2025.
